Hello

H5N1....The Bird Flu.....Avian Influenza.....Pandemic.....

Business leaders face many questions as they determine how to prepare for and respond to this significant healthcare challenge. "Is this a real issue to which I need to pay attention? Should I allocate resources to address this now or do I have time to push it off to next quarter? When is the best time to take action and what does that action look like? What impact on productivity will the disease and ensuing panic have upon my workforce?"

Our goal in this edition of PracticePoints is to empower you with knowledge and resources to effectively meet this challenge. We have included the following articles:

  • The Department of Homeland Security's The Pandemic Influenza Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Guide. This resource outlines infrastructure and resource recommendations for business contingency planning.
  • Pandemic Influenza Preparedness: Adaptive Responses to an Evolving Challenge is an excellent analysis of the emotional and behavioral implications of a pandemic outbreak, as published in the Journal of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
  • Frequently Asked Questions as prepared by the U.S. DHHS. This list prepares employers with specific answers to the questions their employees will likely be asking.
  • The Center for Disease Control's recommendations for the business community on how to prevent the outbreak or the spread of influenza in the workplace.

Utilizing the technological functionality of CrisisCoach for Providers, Crisis Care Network will soon be launching CrisisCoach for Pandemic Response. Please stay tuned for additional information.
